Genstruct Adopts Ariadne Genomics' MedScan TextMiner For Discovery Platform Development

28-Apr-2004

Rockville, MD. Ariadne Genomics, Inc. announced the selection of its MedScan TextMiner software by Genstruct Inc. (Cambridge, MA) as an aid in the development of their Molecular Epistemics(TM) discovery platform. MedScan TextMiner enables automated extraction of biological facts from scientific literature. Genstruct will use this software to improve the efficiency and output of their Knowledge Assembly(TM) process, which results in precise, logical models of biology that are used to identify compound mechanism of action (MOA) and disease mechanisms.

"The accuracy of our assertions is one of our highest priorities," commented Keith O. Elliston, Ph.D., President and CEO of Genstruct. "MedScan TextMiner, with its unique Natural Language Processing engine, will improve our ability to apply Knowledge Assembly to the extraction of molecular interaction information from the scientific literature."

"Genstruct chose to use Ariadne Genomics' MedScan TextMiner because it is a simple, powerful tool that provides reliable data in a user-friendly XML format", said Ilya Mazo, President of Ariadne Genomics. "With MedScan, Genstruct can expand its knowledge base and provide more comprehensive information to its biotechnology and pharmaceutical research partners."
