Unilabs strengthens its position in French-speaking area of Switzerland

07.10.2004

Unilabs announces the signature of an agreement taking effect as of October 1st, 2004 , under the terms of which the CYPA laboratory in Lausanne is being integrated into the Unilabs network.

CYPA Laboratoire de cytologie et de pathologie cliniques SA, with annual revenues of approximately CHF 4 million, was founded in 1998 by Prof. Etienne Gloor and Dr. Jarmila Ruzicka. It is one of the principal laboratories specialized in anatomical pathology (diagnostic on human tissue) in the Leman Lake area and has been able to acquire a leading position through a first class scientific competence. Its founders have been looking for the right partner, which would enable them to further client service and assure the future continuation of the laboratory.

For Unilabs, this acquisition is an integral part of a plan permitting to further reinforce the dimension and quality of service rendered to clients in the Leman Lake area in a highly specialized domain, through a collaboration with our Geneva-based Cytopath-Unilabs laboratory and with our Lausanne-based Unilabs laboratory, taking advantage of the latest technological advances in anatomical pathology.

The Unilabs Group is the European leader of clinical testing laboratories. With 40 laboratories and over 1500 employees operating in 5 countries, Unilabs tests over 3 million samples per year using more than 1500 different tests.
