Zeltia, new President of ASEBIO

Zeltia, S.A. has been elected President of the Spanish Association of Bioenterprises (ASEBIO), in a decision taken by its members' General Assembly. Zeltia, S.A. is represented in the post by the Chairman of its board of directors, José María Fernández Sousa-Faro.

José María Fernández Sousa-Faro received an honours degree in Chemical Sciences in 1967 and a Ph.D. in Biochemical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1971. He took a Master's degree in Business Administration under the IESE in Madrid. From 1968 to 1979 he was a lecturer at different levels at the Complutense University of Madrid, to go on to subsequently become a senior lecturer in Biochemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He has been Chairman of the board at Zeltia since 1985.

The new ASEBIO presidency is committed to taking on great challenges which include enhancing and fine-tuning public aid schemes for Research, Development and Innovation; facilitating access to financing for companies in the biotechnology sector; increasing biotechnology's media presence and boosting dialogue on this topic with public authorities and user sectors. In short, "to work in those activities inherent to the four biotechnology subsectors that our members consider take priority, and for which I am at their full disposal," stated José María Fernández Sousa-Faro.

ASEBIO belongs to and receives support from EUROPABIO, the European Association of Bioindustries and it is a member of the CEOE (The Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations).
