Innogenetics achieves CE mark for new human papillomavirus (HPV) genotyping test

04-Jun-2008

Innogenetics announced that it has received CE marking for its new and expanded HPV genotyping test, the INNO-LiPA HPV Genotyping Extra. The new generation kit allows the genotyping of 28 different HPV genotypes, of which 18 are high-risk types for the possible development of cervical cancer. The test is based on Innogenetics' patent-protected SPF10 primers.

The INNO-LiPA HPV Genotyping Extra is designed for the identification of 28 different genotypes. The test encompasses 18 high-risk genotypes, including genotypes 16, and 18; 7 low-risk genotypes, including genotypes 6 and 11; and 3 additional genotypes. The useful information provided by the INNO-LiPA HPV Genotyping Extra can thereby serve as an important complement to Pap smear testing, and current DNA-based HPV screening tests. Automation is available, allowing the simultaneous processing of up to 48 different patient samples. Results are available within 3 hours.

Innogenetics will initially commercialize the product throughout Europe, where the product will be sold through its own specialized sales force. The INNO-LiPA HPV Genotyping Extra kit is anticipated to add to Innogenetics' revenues as of this quarter.
