Avantogen Limited appoints Mr. Pat Elliott as Chairman of the Board of Directors
The Directors of Avantogen Ltd appointed Mr Pat Elliott as Chairman of the Board. The appointment becomes effective 1 June 2008.
Mr Elliott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in investment banking, leadership and governance skills, corporate finance and strategic transactions. Pat is Chairman of ASX-listed companies: Australia Oriental Minerals NL, Argonaut Resources NL, MIL Resources Limited. He is also a director of a number of privately owned companies.
Mr Elliott's early career at Consolidated Gold Fields Australia Limited covered investment analysis and management. He went into investment banking and became Head of Corporate Finance for Morgan Grenfell Australia Limited. Pat subsequently became Managing Director of Natcorp Investments Ltd which owned a number of manufacturing businesses. After its takeover he became an active early stage venture capital investor with an emphasis on resources.
Avantogen has recently made a number of announcements around commercial progress with its drugs, especially revenue generating transactions around its pancreatic cancer drugs, its nutriceuticals, and especially its vaccines. The company's vaccine development affiliate recently announced a major financial grant for its dengue vaccine program, via the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation supported PDVI, and also announced very positive progress with the USFDA and clinical trials with the West Nile Virus vaccine.
