DakoCytomation and ViroNovative enter licensing agreement on Human Metapneumovirus
DakoCytomation A/S and ViroNovative BV have entered into a licensing agreement for the development and sales of diagnostic products for the detection of Human Metapneumovirus.
Human metapneumovirus was discovered by a team of scientists led by Prof. Dr. Ab Osterhaus at the Erasmus Medical Centre, who examined samples from young children with respiratory tract infections that tested negative for known viruses. HMPV infects people of all ages, but tends to cause more severe respiratory tract infections in young children, the elderly and immunocompromised patients.
Based on the agreement DakoCytomation will have a non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-bearing license to develop, manufacture and sell products worldwide relating to human metapneumovirus. The field of use is limited to either direct immunofluorescence assay or a PNA technology based assay. ViroNovative has filed patent applications, and owns substantial know-how and materials relating to HMPV technology.
