Genomics One signs agreement with french company ABIONIX
Genomics One Corporation announced that it had signed a co-development and co-distribution agreement in the field of mass spectrometry with ABIONIX S.a.r.l., a Company based in France. The Corporation also announced that it has entered into a financing agreement with Swiss-based Capital Système Investissements (CSI).
Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Genomics One Corporation and ABIONIX will develop, manufacture, and distribute a new generation of advanced mass spectrometers to the European Market. Genomics One also intends to create a new Biodefense Division which will be located within the Corporation's headquarters in Laval (Quebec). The Biodefense division is scheduled to start its activities later this year. The creation of the Division is subject to the successful completion of a round of equity financing by way of a private placement. This round of financing of CDN $2,5 million is currently being conducted by Capital Système Investissements (CSI), a corporate finance house based in Geneva, Switzerland.
"The ABIONIX agreement will enable Genomics One to rapidly gain access to the Biodefense market. Biodefense is a growing market that is presently of great interest to governments, the military, defense industries, and other organizations around the world", said Dr. Suzanne L. Lebel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Genomics One Corporation. Mass Spectrometers have traditionally been used by bioresearchers in the fields of medical research and diagnostics. Recently however, two additional areas that will greatly benefit from Mass Spectrometry's cutting-edge technology are civil and military security. "As the threat of bioterrorism grows stronger around the world, the need for rapid detection, analysis and neutralization of dangerous chemical and biological agents by civil and military authorities is of prime importance", explained Dr. Lebel.
