BioVeris Products Used for Security at Olympic Games
World's Athletes In Athens Protected Using BioVeris Technology
"We are extremely pleased that BioVeris' products have been able to assist the NATO Response Forces with their protection of both athletes and the public during the Olympic Games," said Samuel J. Wohlstadter, Chief Executive Officer of BioVeris. "We believe the expanding deployment of our biological testing systems by agencies involved in homeland security and biodefense in the U.S. and Europe underscores the strength of our products and BioVeris' growing position in this important, rapidly evolving global market. We expect to continue to expand our customer base as the demand for flexible, rapid biological agent detection technologies increases."
The NRF staffed and equipped a field biolab at the Olympic Games using BioVeris' proprietary electrochemiluminescence technology-based M1R Analyzer and related BioVeris test kits for the detection of biological agents, including agents such as anthrax, staphylococcus enterotoxin B, ricin and botulinum toxin, among others. The M1R Analyzer provided the NRF with the capability of rapidly conducting tests for biological agents on air, soil, water and food samples.
BioVeris continues to work closely with numerous departments within the U.S. Department of Defense and other U.S. Government agencies, including the FDA, CDC and USDA, using its products as part of various Homeland Security initiatives for the detection of Category A and B biological agents.
