WuXi PharmaTech Forms Alliance with Shanghai Notary Public Office to Reinforce Intellectual Property Protection

Shanghai, China. WuXi PharmaTech, a leading chemistry-based R&D service company located in Shanghai, recently agreed to collaborate with the Shanghai Notary Public Office, a notary agent appointed by the Chinese federal government, to use notarization to reinforce the protection of intellectual property and trade secrets of companies engaged in technology research. The initiative bolsters WuXi PharmaTech's ability to safeguard the intellectual property protection to its customers around the world.

As an official notary agency appointed by Chinese federal government, the Shanghai Notary Public Office will provide WuXi PharmaTech with reliable notarization services for contracts, agreements, certificates and other legal instruments, and will also provide consulting services regarding legal issues and regulations relating to intellectual property protection.

The Shanghai Municipal Government takes the view that "Technological Innovation is the Only Way to Prosperity and Development for Shanghai City." The collaboration with WuXi PharmaTech aims to implement this underlying commercial development strategy by adding effective mechanisms to protect intellectual property protection in order to encourage innovation.

At the public signing ceremony with the Shanghai Notary Office, Dr. Ge Li, the Chairman and CEO of WuXi PharmaTech, noted: "This agreement demonstrates the Chinese government's strong commitment to intellectual property protection.
