Gentra Systems and Hitachi Software Subsidiary, MiraiBio, Join Forces In United States, Central and South America

Agreement Benefits More Than 2,000 Labs Through Combined Expertise in Nucleic Acid Purification and Genetic Analysis Markets

Gentra Systems, Inc. and MiraiBio, Inc. (a subsidiary of Hitachi software Engineering, Co., Ltd.), announced today that they have entered into a multi-year agreement that appoints MiraiBio as a distributor of Gentra's AUTOPURE LS(R) Automated Large Sample Nucleic acid purification System and related consumables. This agreement will address the sample preparation requirements for customers of MiraiBio in the United States and certain other territories within the Americas. For those customers desiring manual preparation of samples, MiraiBio will recommend Gentra's complete line of chemistry products including its market-leading PUREGENE(R) DNA purification kits.

The companies intend to explore additional market opportunities to leverage their respective technologies and competencies through development of the next generation of innovative instrumentation and sample preparation reagents based on Gentra and MiraiBio technologies.
