Biesterfeld Spezialchemie: New business unit combines healthcare distribution activities

19-Oct-2017 - Germany

As part of its ongoing drive to develop market segment focus, Biesterfeld Spezialchemie is creating a new business unit for healthcare distribution. This move is a logical continuation of previous developments and will allow the distributor to effectively target this highly demanding market.

“The healthcare market is influenced by mega trends that will have a crucial impact on society, which makes it an attractive growth market for us. We understand the exceptionally stringent requirements in this segment and we have aligned our distribution business accordingly. Setting up this business unit is an important step in our strategy of delivering competent, intensive and highly focused service to very demanding market segments,” explains Peter Wilkes, Managing Director of Biesterfeld Spezialchemie.

The new business unit will combine the pharmaceutical activities of Schütz & Co., acquired in 2016, and the business of the current pharmaceutical and medical devices segments. The unit will be headed by Andreas Lekebusch, who has a PhD in chemistry and has significantly shaped the strategic alignment and operational implementation of pharmaceutical and medical devices activities at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie for almost 20 years.

“The distribution of products to the pharmaceutical industry and medical device manufacturers is complex and demanding. With our extensive market knowledge and technical know-how, we are able to provide competent, tailored customer service, which is why we are regarded as experts in the market. We give high priority to quality management and taking responsibility for quality, which is especially important in the distribution of pharmaceutical active ingredients,” adds Andreas Lekebusch, Business Manager Healthcare at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie.

The product and service portfolio will be developed and expanded in line with a targeted strategy. The development of target markets in Europe, the Middle East and Russia will continue to have high priority.
