PerkinElmer Launches the SmartStation Integrated Platform and Five New Drug Discovery Offerings
Products to be Showcased at the Conference for the Society for Biomolecular Screening (SBS)
SmartStation(TM) seamlessly integrates liquid handling, detection, and plate management to provide unmatched out-of-the-box automation. This new automated workstation provides a highly flexible, integrated solution for assay development, secondary screening, and ADME/Tox applications. The EnVision(TM) multilabel plate reader, featuring exceptional speed and sensitivity, provides SmartStation's detection capability. The proprietary liquid handling design of SmartStation dispenses in 96- and 384- to 1536-well plate formats, without changing the tip head. SmartStation offers superior throughput and flexibility, preparing 60,000 samples per hour within a dispensing range of 0.5 to 300 (mu)L. Its compact footprint is the perfect answer to the space constraints faced by many laboratories today. SmartStation's automated assay capability provides increased robustness of complex assays, improved ease-of-use, and the convenience of walk-away operation. It also takes many reagent technologies to the next level; for example, the highly sensitive, but somewhat labor-intensive DELFIA(R) GTP filtration assay, when automated on the SmartStation, runs with absolute precision and requires no human intervention. SmartStation offers superior performance with a wide variety of reagent technologies from PerkinElmer including LANCE(TM), [FP]2(TM), steadylite HTS(TM) and britelite(TM), as well as the new Image FlashPlate(TM).
ViewLux(TM) LumiLite Microplate Imager - The ViewLux microplate imager product line has expanded with the introduction of the ViewLux LumiLite, specifically designed for ultra- high throughput imaging of luminescence-based assay platforms (glow and red-shifted luminescence). The ViewLux uses a CCD camera to image entire plates, dramatically increasing throughput, independent of plate density. The ViewLux platform is the premier choice of uHTS laboratories worldwide. Now the ViewLux LumiLite offers new users a model that is fully upgradeable to the all-technology ViewLux model without compromising throughput and sensitivity for which the ViewLux microplate imager is widely known. PerkinElmer's steadylite HTS, britelite and Image FlashPlate products complete the luminescence-based solution offering, allowing a broad range of targets to be screened quickly and efficiently.
ToxSuite - This new suite of reagent kits is designed for a wide variety of cellular toxicity assays. Composed of PerkinElmer's renowned DELFIA, LANCE and Luminescence Assay Systems, they offer an array of highly sensitive, non-radioactive assays for apoptosis, cytotoxicity, cell metabolism, and proliferation. The ToxSuite extends PerkinElmer's experience with robust screening solutions to help address the lead optimization bottleneck many customers are facing. These platforms are compatible with PerkinElmer's world-class EnVision microplate reader and ViewLux microplate imager.
EnVision(TM) Xcite - This new addition to the EnVision platform offers a fully upgradeable, entry-level model, thereby meeting the throughput needs and budgets of new and growing laboratories and research facilities. EnVision Xcite does not compromise the renowned sensitivity of the EnVision platform and offers good throughput performance. EnVision Xcite is compatible with a wide array of powerful PerkinElmer reagent technologies, including DELFIA, LANCE, britelite, steadylite HTS, Image FlashPlate and [FP]2. EnVision Xcite's upgrade options include a high-speed second detector, plate stackers and a barcode reader.
EnVision(TM) Enhanced Luminescence Option - With the Enhanced Luminescence Option, the EnVision microplate reader adds PerkinElmer's Image FlashPlate to its repertoire of compatible technology platforms. This advancement makes EnVision the world's only bench-top multilabel reader to perform both non-radiometric and radiometric assays. The Image FlashPlate is a 384 shallow well microplate coated with a scintillant that emits in the desirable red region of the spectrum, which provides superior sensitivity and improved signal-to-noise ratio over traditional HTS methods.
Image FlashPlate(TM) WGA coated plates - This new extension to the Image FlashPlate platform adds the wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) coated microplate to this red-emission technology platform. This WGA-coated offering now enables receptor-ligand binding assays to be run on the Image FlashPlate platform, providing an attractive alternative to traditional bead-based approaches. The Image FlashPlate provides a fast, easy and cost- effective way to increase throughput, while achieving more accurate results and easy miniaturization. The Image FlashPlate is well suited for assay development and HTS environments when run on the EnVision multilabel reader. It is ideal for uHTS applications when run on the ViewLux microplate imager.
