Humboldt Foundation cooperates with Bayer Foundation

Three million EUR for new Humboldt-Bayer Research Fellowships

31-Jan-2013 - Germany

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Bayer Science & Education Foundation will soon be awarding joint research fellowships. Until 2018, the Bayer Foundation will be making around three million EUR available to fund approximately ten Humboldt-Bayer Research Fellowships annually. The fellows will be selected from the fields of the life sciences, chemistry and pharmacy together with the applicants for regular Humboldt Research Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers.

In addition to the standard sponsorship provided by the Humboldt Foundation, the fellows will receive additional support from Bayer. The company and its foundation will for example facilitate contacts to people within the corporation, invite fellows to events or foundation alumni meetings, offer advice on career issues and job seeking, provide mentors and arrange factory tours.

For the Humboldt Foundation, cooperating with companies such as Bayer is a valuable instrument enabling it to offer a greater number of fellowships while increasing permeability between industry and research.
