Univar Ireland has been awarded the Good Distributor Practice (GDP) Passport
The GDP Passport is the first of its kind in Europe and certifies the quality, security and safety of a distributor’s operations. Univar Ireland demonstrated that all products are stored, handled and distributed to a high standard and that the product handling and delivery are managed in a secure and safe manner, ensuring supply chain integrity and enhancing consumer safety.
Univar Ireland’s purpose-built facility based in Rathcoole, County Dublin, is designed to meet the high standards required by customers operating in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. Products stored at the facility are classified and segregated to meet the rigorous safety standards demanded by these industries.
Univar is committed to maintaining the highest levels of safety in all areas of its operation, something that requires dedication from all areas of the organisation. The GDP accreditation includes the appointment of two fully-trained Univar ‘GDP Champions’ as well as training courses for all staff involved in the supply chain and for all drivers involved in the transportation and handling of pharmaceutical and medical device products.
“The GDP Passport is incredibly important to us as a business and the certification sets Univar apart from its peers,” says Phil Hockaday, Univar’s environmental, health and safety director EMEA. “We always strive to understand the key issues faced by our customers and tackle them head on. The site’s GDP Passport means our customers can have confidence that products shipped by Univar have passed through a reliable, industry-leading supply chain, from our warehouse through to final production.”
“With a high proportion of products exported from Ireland, Univar is committed to working closely with the Irish Exporters Association and Life Sciences to continue to grow our business in line with the requirements of the industries we work with,” he adds.
