Wolfgang Wienand appointed head of Siegfried research and development
Siegfried Holding AG in Zofingen (SIX: SFZN) has named Wolfgang Wienand, Ph.D., to Siegfried’s Executive Committee with responsibility for research and development.
Wienand (38) is a German citizen with a degree in chemistry awarded in 1999 by the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn, Germany, and a Ph.D. in organic and bio-organic chemistry from Cologne University in 2002. Upon graduation, Wolfgang Wienand joined Degussa AG, today Evonik Industries AG, and has held several management positions in Hanau, Munich and Shanghai. In his last position, in Frankfurt am Main, Wieland’s focus was on fine chemistry and custom manufacturing for the pharmaceutical industry. During this period he held responsibility for all strategic and operating development activities in the field of homogeneous- und biocatalysis.
Wienand will continue in his current position as head of strategy and business development of the advanced silanes business unit, which is also active in the photovoltaic growth market, until assuming his position at Siegfried.
Wolfgang Wienand will assume his new responsibilities at Siegfried effective August 1, 2010. Until then, Rudolf Hanko will take on responsibility for the research and development department on an interim basis.
