Almac completes its expansion plan to Pharma Services facilities
New £9m facility will ‘meet growing business need for integrated pharmaceutical development and commercial services
The completion of a three story extension to the existing commercial manufacture facility in June 2009 expanded Pharma Services’ laboratory and office areas by 30,000 ft2. The new state–of-the-art laboratories enhance the existing analytical and microbiological drug product support services.
Remodelling of the now 120,000 ft2 commercial manufacture facility was completed in March 2010. Significant expansion in microbiological and sterility test areas, coupled to new yellow light labs, is complemented by office and meeting room expansion to facilitate our increased client base. A near doubling of our analytical chemist headcount to 80 staff, with capabilities and space available for recruiting further personnel, allows us to meet the growing requirements for our integrated services. Method development, validation and transfer supporting multiple client projects, are offered over a wide range of state-of-the-art technologies from our expanded facility.
Graeme McBurney, President & M.D of Almac Pharma Services commented: “Increased client demand for our integrated services, from Product Development to Commercial Supply, has resulted in the strategic decision to make this investment and expansion, both in terms of space and the additional team members we are recruiting. I look forward to working with the current and new members of our team and to the continued success of Almac Pharma Services.”
