Millipore Obtains Patent Rights for Sequencing Reaction Clean-up from Japanese Research Institute
Professor Hayashizaki, Project Director, Genome Exploration Research Group at RIKEN, noted: "As a research institute, we are delighted to see our technology applied to commercial products that benefit other life science researchers around the world. Genomics is one of our main areas of focus. We look forward to continuing to work with Millipore and other industry and university partners in advancing this science."
Bill Emhiser, president of Millipore's Life Sciences Division noted: "We are working with a number of industry and academic partners to accelerate advances in genomics, proteomics and drug discovery sample prep. The intellectual property from our relationship with RIKEN forms the basis of our new Montage SEQ96 and SEQ384 sequence reaction clean-up kits. Now customers can get efficient, centrifuge-free sequencing reaction clean-up that eliminates the need for costly gel filtration resins or bind/wash and elute columns."
Montage SEQ kits increase the amount of useable data from each sequencing reaction by eliminating dye blobs and increasing sequencing read lengths. Complete with all the materials needed, Montage SEQ kits follow a 10-minute, vacuum-based protocol. An optimized injection solution for both purification and injection is included to further streamline the protocol.
Millipore has several pending patent applications related to UF-based, nucleic acid sample preparation products and processes including but not limited to those covering PCR, circular DNA, RNA and SNP purification and clean up.
