Wen-Hung Kuo



Wen-Hung Kuo, Ph.D. is a well known epidemiologist. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. , an SM (Master of Science) in Epidemiology from Harvard University's School of Public Health and a Ph.D. from the Department of Mental Health at the Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health. His dissertation research looked at mortality and risk factors for suicidal behaviors in Baltimore's Epidemiologic Catchment Area Program to identify and determine the psychosocial risk factors for suicidal behavior.

In 2002, Dr. Kuo completed an Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine (ATPM) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) co-sponsored fellowship in STD/HIV prevention, which was based in both the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health at State University of New York and CDC's National Center for HIV, STD, and TB Prevention.

In early 2003, after finishing the ATPM fellowship at CDC, he started a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) sponsored research fellowship on Behavioral Science Training (BST) in Drug Abuse at the National Development and Research Institutes (NDRI) in New York City. In 2003,

From early 2004 to 2005, Dr. Kuo was a faculty member in the Department of Public Health at Temple University. Dr. Kuo has served as an adjunct faculty, leading workshops on epidemiologic and biostatistic methods for medical students at City University of New York (CUNY) since 2003.


Dr. Kuo has published a number of articles and presented in numerous nationally and international conferences. His research interests include: epidemiologic methodology, suicidal behavior, depression, drug abuse, HIV/STD, and immigrant and refugee health.
