Veterinarian's OathThe Veterinarian's Oath was adopted by the American Veterinary Medical Association's House of Delegates July 1969, and amended by the AVMA Executive Board, November 1999.
Additional recommended knowledgeCriticismAnimal rights advocates feel that the oath does not go far enough in stating devotion to the protection of animals. New vets should not be required to work on behalf of "livestock resources," they say. Furthermore, opponents feel that veterinarians are often forced, through veterinary training and research work, to cause rather than relieve animal suffering.[citation needed] |
