Tan Ngan Lo Medicated Tea
The Tan Ngan Lo medicated tea is a herbal concoction formulated by a Chinese immigrant from mainland China in the early 20th century. Initially, it was prepared as a Chinese herbal treatment for family members to invigorate their body from heat and lethargy due to strenuous physical labors and exposure to scorching sun. Over time, more friends and relatives began to consume the medicated tea on regular basis because of its medicinal efficacy. Additional recommended knowledgeIt wasn’t until 1963 when Mr. Foong Chow Hwey, the son of the Chinese immigrant, began to commercialize the medicated tea in Malaysia aiming at bringing the health benefits of the tea to the general public. The company was eventually incorporated as Wen Jiang Medical Industries Sendirian Berhad in 1983 to manufacture and market the product. The product became a big hit in the 1970’s through 1990’s. Today, the Tan Ngan Lo medicated tea has become a popular household name. It is now being consumed at homes, in offices and coffee shops. Meanwhile, the product continues to be popular both within Malaysia and in overseas. It is presently exported to countries such as Singapore, Brunei, Australia, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Britain, Japan as well as mainland China. |
