Superfund Basic Research ProgramThe Superfund Basic Research Program (SBRP) was created within the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in 1986 under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA). The SBRP is a university-based research program that supports the national Superfund program by addressing a wide variety of scientific concerns. The SBRP currently funds multi-project grants at fifteen institutions (Boston University, Brown University, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Duke University, Michigan State University, Texas A&M University, University of Arizona, University of California-Berkeley, University of California, Davis , University of California at San Diego , University of Iowa, University of Kentucky, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Washington). The SBRP also funds individual research projects (R01s), small business innovation research, and small business technology transfer research. The 2008 budget request amount for the SBRP was $50.198 million.
