ShenmenShenmen (Traditional Chinese: 神門, also called in English "Spirit Gate"[1]) or HT7 is an acupoint, a point of the skin that is stimulated, with various techniques, in the practice of acupuncture. Shenmen or HT7 is located on the heart meridian (HT). Additional recommended knowledgeTherapeutic uses and scientific validationA common way to prevent placebo effects in the validation of acupuncture is to use animals as subjects. A 2005 study published in Neuroscience Letters showed that the stimulation of Shenmen, but not of control points, lessened the dopaminergic response to morphine and reduced hyperactivity. [2] This recent research brings further support to the well-known use of acupuncture in addiction problems. References
