Retrograde labeling

Retrograde labeling is a method used in neuroscience to examine projection of neurons by labeling the location where a bundle of cells project to.

Methods

Injection of special "beads" into brain nuclei in anesthetized animals. Allow animals to survive for a few days and then, sacrifice. Visualize cells in the origin of projection through inverted fluorescence microscope.
