National Youth Council of the American Red CrossThe American Red Cross National Youth Council represents the interests of youth and young adults and aggressively promotes youth and young adult involvement throughout the American Red Cross. The Council sets an example and shows the way for all Red Cross volunteers and staff who want to involve America's youth in the Red Cross as service providers to make a difference in the Red Cross as service providers. Additional recommended knowledgeAboutThe Council works closely with the Board of Governors of the American Red Cross and the Office of the National Chair of Volunteers at national headquarters in an advisory capacity to develop and implement youth programs and initiatives aimed at successfully involving youth at all levels and in all services of the American Red Cross. The Council sees its projects through to completion by working with and making specific recommendations to leadership and committees on the national level. Projects vary in focus and may include subjects such national youth service initiatives, youth involvement in service delivery and leadership development, trends and issues in youth volunteerism and service learning, and the needs and interests of American youth. The National Youth Council consists of 18 members, 13 of whom are youth or young adults under the age of 25 representing chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services and Biomedical Services. The remaining five members are adult specialists from the Board of Governors and chapter leadership. The Council reports to the Office of the National Chair of Volunteers and receives support from Youth and Young Adult Programs and Services. External link
