Jean DecetyDr. Jean Decety is a professor at the University of Chicago, with appointments in psychology and psychiatry. He is the co-director of the Brain Research Imaging Center at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Decety received his doctorate degree in neuroscience from the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, in Lyon, France. He is the director of the University of Chicago's Social Cognitive Neuroscience Lab. Decety also serves as the editor of Social Neuroscience and is on the editorial boards of The Scientific World Journal and of Neuropsychologia. Additional recommended knowledgeDecety is a member of the faculty advisory committee of the France Chicago Center. Decety's research focuses on on the neural mechanisms underpinning social cognition, particularly empathy, sympathy, perspective taking, emotional regulation and mirror neuron systems. This work contributes to the rapidly growing academic field of social neuroscience.
