Hygrophorus
Hygrophorus is the type genus for the Hygrophoraceae. Members of this genus are distinguished from other members of this family by the dull coloration (tending towards whites, beiges, and dull oranges or yellows) of their fruiting bodies and microscopically by their divergent lamellar trama. Additional recommended knowledgeThe majority of species initially described as members of Hygrophorus have been transferred to the newer genus Hygrocybe. These include the brightly coloured Hygrocybe conica, H. punicea and H. psittacina.
