Georgia Cancer CoalitionThe Georgia Cancer Coalition is an American independent, non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the number of cancer deaths in the U.S. state of Georgia. Organized in 2001,[1] the coalition strives to accomplish this goal by unifying government agencies, academic institutions, service clubs, corporations and health care organizations in a joint effort to strengthen cancer prevention, research and treatment in the state. The organization's ultimate goal is to make Georgia one of the nation's premier states for cancer care.[2] This goal is evident in the organization's mission statement: The mission of the Georgia Cancer Coalition is to reduce the number of cancer deaths in the state. In so doing, Georgia intends to become a national leader in cancer control by accelerating prevention, early detection, treatment and research.[3] Additional recommended knowledgeThe Georgia Cancer Coalition was the official beneficiary organization of the Tour de Georgia cycling event from 2003-2007.[4] References |
