Glycogenphosphorylase isoenzyme BBGlycogen Phosphorylase BB (GPBB) is an isoenzyme of glycogen phosphorylase. This isoform of the enzyme exists in cardiac (heart) and brain tissue. The enzyme is one of the "new cardiac markers" which are discussed to improve early cardiac diagnosis in ACS. Further members of this enzyme family are GPLL (liver) and GPMM (muscle). Additional recommended knowledgeThis enzyme GPBB can be detected in heart infarctions as an early cardiac marker of ACS (acute coronary syndromes). Other enzymes related to glycogen phosphorylase are abbreviated as GPLL (liver) and GPMM (muscle). Literature
