Excess risk

In statistics, excess risk is the increase of risk relative to some baseline risk.

Relation to relative risk

It is related to the relative risk by the following formula:

excess risk = ( relative risk -1) * 100 %

Example:

A relative risk of 1.20 would be an excess risk of 20%.
