Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and SurgeryDes Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery (CPMS) is a college of Des Moines University (DMU) in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. The college is one of three colleges making up the University. The others are the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) and the College of Health Sciences (CHS). CPMS was the first podiatric college in the United States to completely integrate studies with an accredited medical school. Graduates earn a D.P.M. degree. CPMS students during their first and second year share curricula, classrooms, and grading scales with the osteopathic medical students. The curriculum is a mixture of lecture based and problem based learning (PBL), an interactive case based system. In the fourth year, CPMS students have the freedom to set up all clinical rotations, and have no obligations to affiliated programs; this is unique to CPMS.
