Cheiropteriphily is the pollination by bats (Bat Pollination)

This pollination occurs in plants growing in the tropical regions.Bats visit flowers to suck nectar, chew the pollen and feed on the insects found there.
The following are characteristics of flowers pollinated by bats:
  • They are large sized
  • They have large pedicles
  • They produce large amount of nectar
  • They open at night(to meet with the nocturnal nature of bats) and emit scent.
