Asif Chaudry
Additional recommended knowledgeDr Mohammed Asif Chaudry (born 1974, London) is a British surgical oncologist, active in the treatment and research of gastrointestinal malignancy. He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford where he was awarded a scholarship for distinguished academic performance and gained MA, BM BCh degrees from Oxford University with distinction. His subsequent postgraduate training was in Oxford and London at St Mark's Hospital, Harefield, the Royal Free Hospital and University College London, gaining membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He pursued his doctoral research under the supervision of Professor Marc Winslet at UCL. He has published widely in the field of neoplasia, particularly looking at the interaction of the pan-epithelial differentiation antigen EpCam, its involvement in tumour establishment and metastasis as well as its potential as a target for immunotherapy. He is the author of the Oxford handbook of Surgical Oncology (Oxford University Press) and numerous chapters including EpCam, in the Encyclopedia of Cancer (Springer) [1]. He was recently the chair of the cancer drug development session at the "International Drug Discovery Science and Technology Conference" Beijing & Xian, China November 2007 ([[2]])[3] Away from work and acadaemia he has worked on various relief projects with Doctors worldwide [4] and was one of the founders of the City Circle, Careers and Mentoring Project [5] |
