Anti-Scottish sentiment

Anti-Scottish sentiment is a hatred or fear of Scotland, the Scots or Scottish culture;[1] its antonym is Scotophilia.[citation needed]

In the United Kingdom, Scotophobia by English people has seen some limited use[2], sometimes with reference to Scotland's role within the UK, and the campaign for Scottish independence. In this capacity, it is sometimes used conjunction with Anglophilic sentiment.[citation needed]

Edward I of England has been styled the "Hammer of the Scots",[3] and was popularised in the 1995 movie Braveheart as a Scotophobe.[citation needed]
