However, studies do show that interruption of this vessel's blood flow can result in hemiplegia on the opposite side of the body (contralateral), contralateral hemihypesthesia, and homonymous hemianopia. These symptoms are thought to arise from ischemic damage to the posterior limb of the internal capsule. References
