American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) is an organization devoted to the advancement of cosmetic surgery. It has approximately 2,400 members. U.S. members are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Canadian members are certified in plastic surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

ASAPS was founded in 1967 and is now recognized as a leader in cosmetic surgery research, education, and procedural advances.

Besides certification, membership requires a plastic surgeon to regularly attend continuing medical education courses and to adhere to a code of ethics. All ASAPS members are required to perform surgery in accredited surgical facilities.

The Aesthetic Surgery Journal is an official publication of the ASAPS.
