1,2-Dichlorobenzene
1,2-Dichlorobenzene, or ortho-dichlorobenzene, is an organic compound used primarily as a high-boiling solvent. It is a benzene derivative with two chlorine atoms substituted at adjacent positions. It is a colorless liquid that is insoluble in water, but is miscible with ethanol, diethyl ether and benzene. Additional recommended knowledge1,2-Dichlorobenzene is used as a solvent for waxes, gums, resins, tars, rubbers, and oils. It is a preferred solvent in some chemical reactions involving fullerenes. It is also used as a degreasing agent for metals, leather and wool. 1,2-Dichlorobenzene is an insecticide for termites and locust borers. See also
