The SRD GmbH was founded in 1995 with the aim to promote the interactions between basic and industrial research. SRD is concerned with the design and optimization of laboratory and industrial strains of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae ( strain design ) as well as the analysis of essential gene functions as possible sites of attack for the treatment of infectious diseases.In many national and international projects in the area of ​​bioconversion, the optimization of process techniques and the heterologous expression of proteins in yeast, SRD cooperates with universities, large industrial enterprises as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.
