BAYER DE MÉXICO, S.A. DE C.V.

Bayer has been present in Mexico with its products for more than 100 years. However, it was on June 23, 1921 when the company "Química Industrial Bayer, Wescott & Cia." was established in the historic center of Mexico City as the first Bayer company in Mexico, which mainly marketed medicines. Over the decades, Bayer has grown into what is today an important company with modern plants and a broad presence throughout the country. At the beginning of the century, Bayer in Mexico was known mainly for Aspirin, imported at that time by wholesalers. After World War I, Cafiaspirin was introduced in the Mexican market, whose sales increased year by year, so that by the end of the 1930s, it reached a large share of the Mexican market. By that time, the company had changed its name to Casa Bayer and had expanded its business by distributing chemical products to Central America as well.

In 1939, Bayer built its first pharmaceutical plant on a plot of land on Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra Boulevard, in the Granada neighborhood. This plant was also the first of its kind to be built in this country. Today, Bayer's headquarters, inaugurated in 1959, are also located there, recently expanded and constantly modernized. After World War II, the Bayer Group continued to grow in Mexico. New production plants, the acquisition of companies, mergers and new company foundations, also in cooperation with highly professional and excellent Mexican partners, characterize the dynamic development of the last decades up to the present day.

Today, Bayer in Mexico, with around 2,500 employees (at the end of 2006) and annual sales of MXP 9.3 billion, is one of the most important foreign subsidiaries of the worldwide Bayer Group, which as a globally oriented company is active in almost every country in the world.
