BIRD Engineering BV

BIRD Engineering, Biotechnology Integrated Research, Development & Engineering, specialises in consultancy, contract research and engineering in the areas of fermentation technology and molecular biology. BIRD is also active in the field of recruitment of personnel with a background in life sciences.

Since 1989, BIRD Engineering is active in Life Science and Technology. Contract research and consultancy formed the core business from the beginning. The Recruitment department was added after the first two years, after our customers informed us about their difficulties with finding personnel with a background in biotechnology. The engineering department is supervised by Prof. Dr. J.P. van Dijken, who is also director of the company and as such in charge of the day-to-day business.

BIRD’s employees are highly educated professionals with hands-on experience. Research is carried out in close collaboration with Industrial Microbiology section of the Delft University of Technology (Prof. Dr. J.T. Pronk and Prof. Dr. J.G. Kuenen). Industrial partners are, among others Tate and Lyle, Decatur USA, and Koninklijke Nedalco B.V., Bergen op Zoom The Netherlands.
