Faron Pharmaceuticals, Ltd.

Faron Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. is a Finnish drug discovery and development company based in Turku. The Company has three major drug development projects focusing on acute traumas, metabolic syndrome related vasculopathies, inflammatory diseases, and cancer metastasis.

Faron sources its innovations from the academia. The inventors of the projects become close scientific collaborators to the Company and continue, and are required, to be actively involved in the further development of the projects. Thereby much of the development work up to the proof-of-concept stage can be contracted to the innovators’ labs, allowing Faron to maintain a lean operating structure and keep fixed costs and burn-rate at minimum. As a result, Faron is able run a relatively extensive drug development operation with significantly less staff and lower costs than what would be possible in a typical drug development company. Investments are based on project basis, typically after proof-of-concept has been obtained.
