About CellTool
CellTool was founded in 2008 by serial entrepreneurs Karin and Raimund Schütze in order to make photonic technologies available for biomedical applications. Based on their pioneering work and in close collaboration with leading experts across the disciplines – physics, biology, medicine and informatics – CellTool develops fully integrated systems that are easy to use and broadly applicable. These allow, for the first time, biological specimens to be identified, analysed and sorted without biochemical markers, fluorescent labels, antibodies or beads. As a result, cells remain untouched and vital, and can be subjected to further tests or manipulations as desired. Potential applications range from stem cell and cancer research to drug development, quality control and clinical practice.
