Deutsches Zentrum für Biomaterialen und Organersatz e.V. (BMOZ e.V.)
About Deutsches Zentrum für Biomaterialen und Organersatz
The center combines longstanding experience in development and synthesis of polymeric biomaterials and their structure and surface modification, as well as the development of implants and biohybrid artificial organs. In vitro and in vivo testing is performed according to the valid standards and the directives for medical devices. Under the frame of research projects, the aim of the center is to develop biomaterials, implants and artificial organs and their testing up to clinical trials. Next to the basic research, the main focus lies on the application-close development together with pharmaceutical and biomedical companies. The existing institutions for chemical analysis, in vitro testing and also the laboratories for animal testing are available for the industrial partners. They are also available for routine examinations and batch testing in the scope of the European Medical Device Directive. The laboratories of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the ITV are accredited in the field of medical devices by the relevant certified body (ZLG).
